INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Family members have identified a woman's body found in a northwest side retention pond Friday afternoon.
Family members identified the woman as 89-year-old Ella Minor.
Family members says Minor suffered from dementia and was legally blind.
Indianapolis Fire Department crews removed the body from the 4600 block of Kimmeridge Lane, at an apartment complex near 56th Street and Georgetown Road.
"I"m just as shocked as anybody to know that it's a body back there in that pond," said a woman who identified herself as Miss Owens.
She said she had returned to her home Friday afternoon to find police tape up around the pond behind her townhouse.
"My bedroom is on the end and if I open up my blinds, I look right at the pond and now I'm going to think about that," she said, shaking her head.
