INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – The murder of a teenage girl is still unsolved right now.
A week after her death, family members of 16-year-old Nya Cope put up a memorial for her.
The teen was hit by a stray bullet while riding in a car getting food with her mom near 38th and Arlington.
Hundreds of people gathered for her memorial despite the stay-at-home order.
"We lost someone at a young age. She was a child — an only child at that," Laryssa Vest said. "So, her mother is having a real hard time with it, but I believe we will get through it as a family. And hopefully, we can find the person that did this."
Nya's family and police hope someone will come forward with information to help solve the case.
