INDIANAPOLIS — Multiple Indianapolis Fire Department crews worked to put out a fire Sunday morning that displaced a family of 10 on the city's northeast side.
IFD firefighters responded to reports of a two-story house fire just before 8:30 a.m. Dec. 10 and saw "heavy fire and smoke showing" when they arrived to the 8000 block of Tanager Court, near East 75th Street and Hague Road.
Two adult residents, along with an IFD firefighter, were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries, according to IFD.
IFD said the family doesn't know how the fire started but is thankful working smoke alarms alerted one of the children. Eight members of the family were in the house during the fire and escaped through windows, according to IFD.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation from IMPD and IFD.
