Fair: No grandstand concerts

The Indiana State Fair will not hold concerts scheduled for the grandstand this week, and is exploring alternate venues.
The State Fair grandstand stage will not host scheduled concerts this week.

The Indiana State Fair will not hold concerts scheduled for the grandstand this week, Fair Director Cindy Hoye told Eyewitness News Monday morning.

The decision comes after Saturday night's stage collapse before the Sugarland concert killed five people and injured dozens more.

The Fair announced Sunday that Monday's rodeo was canceled, and is now exploring moving the August 17 Janet Jackson concert, the August 18 Train and Maroon 5 concert, and the August 19 Lady Antebellum show to other venues.

Hoye mentioned Conseco Fieldhouse, the Verizon Wireless Music Center and the lawn at White River State Park as possible alternate venues.

She estimated ten-to-twelve-thousand people were on hand for the Sugarland concert.
