INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Historical Society celebrated the fourth annual "Eva Education Day" on Saturday.
During the event at the IHS, Indiana's most prominent Holocaust survivor, Eva Kor, was honored with an array of different activities celebrating her life.
Guests were able to join in educational activities and watch a documentary about Kor.
There were also exhibits highlighting her life and legacy of forgiveness that included a virtual tour of the Auschwitz concentration camp through her eyes.
Organizers told 13News it was a unique way to understand her experiences.
"You're never too young to start learning these things," said Beth Brandon, manager of multi-generational programs at the Indianapolis Historical Society. "In fact, we have parts of our exhibit that are built for the very young."
"Of course, if you have lived (through the Holocaust) and you have living memory, there's way to tie-in and connect as well," Brandon said.
Saturday, Jan. 27 also marked 79 years since Auschwitz was liberated at the end of World War II in 1945 and is known as "Holocaust Remembrance Day" nationally.
