A $500,000 grant to the Eskenazi Health Foundation will help support an east Indianapolis health center that opened earlier this year.
The award from Bank of America was announced Wednesday.
In a press release, the foundation said the funds will allow Eskenazi Health "to continue addressing disparities in health care access and achieve better outcomes for all."
“Everything we do at Eskenazi Health is in the interest of health equity. Making the opportunity of good health and access to care available to everyone in our community isn’t just a component of our mission, it is our mission,” said Lisa Harris, M.D., chief executive officer of Eskenazi Health. “We are grateful for the support from Bank of America, which will help us expand our reach as we continue to address the barriers that prohibit many in our community from living healthful lives.”
The community health center at 6002 E. 38th Street opened in April 2024 "specifically focusing on advancing health equity in the northeast corridor."
“Eskenazi Health Foundation is thankful for this significant gift from Bank of America,” said Ernest Vargo II, president and chief executive officer of the Eskenazi Health Foundation. “Attending to social care is imperative and fundamental to improving overall health, but health care systems cannot do this alone. We are deeply appreciative of Bank of America’s support.”
