INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - A busy east side interstate ramp is closed after a Sunday morning crash.
A semi tractor-trailer lost control and crashed on a bridge in the ramp from I-70 westbound to I-465 southbound.
It happened just before 9:00 Sunday morning.
The eastbound lanes of I70 were closed for a time because chunks of concrete had fallen from the bridge, damaging several vehicles.
Those lanes reopened a few minutes after the crash.
The ramp, however, remains closed while INDOT conducts an inspection of the structure.
Traffic is being diverted to Shadeland Avenue.
At about the same time, a semi crash downtown slowed traffic in the North Split.
A truck jackknifed and crashed on the ramp from I-65 NB to I-70 EB. Concrete also fell from the bridge onto the interstate below in that crash, and resulting fuel leak kept crews on the scene after the wreckage was cleared.
State police said there were injuries in both crashes, but they did not share additional information.
