INDIANAPOLIS — Some of the world's best marching music ensembles are returning to downtown Indianapolis to compete in Lucas Oil Stadium.
Starting at noon Thursday, dozens of teams will fill the the Colts' stadium with beautiful ballads and visuals with hopes of winning the 52nd Drum Corps International World Championship.
Thousands of drum corps alums, family members and fans travel to Indy from all over the country to fill the stadium and watch the bands battle it out.
In last year's championship, the reigning champion Blue Devils from from Concord, California won its 21st DCI World Championship. The band also marched away with three caption awards for General Effect, Visual and Color Guard.
The third place Carolina Crown took home the caption award for brass, and the eighth place Cavaliers earned the percussion caption award.

Tickets are still available for all three rounds of prelims, semifinals and the finals online. Physical tickets will not be sold.
