HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — A driver was flown to the hospital after he crashed into the back of an empty school bus in Hamilton County on Tuesday morning.
According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened just before 10 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 38 and Horton Road, which is north of Westfield, near Hortonville.
Investigators say a Ford F-350 pulling a trailer of Republic trash cans was headed west when it ran into the back of a school bus that was waiting to turn left onto Horton Road.
The bus was empty when the crash happened. Investigators say the bus driver was not injured and was taken to Riverview Health for a consensual blood draw.
The man driving the truck was flown to St. Vincent Hospital on 86th Street for injuries to his legs.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team is investigating the crash.
The sheriff's office alerted drivers of the crash at around 11 a.m. and asked that they avoid the area to allow investigators to reconstruct the crash.
