INDIANAPOLIS — A Johnson County man was hospitalized after a serious crash Thursday morning.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, shortly before 8 a.m. on Feb. 8, deputies responded to County Road 800 East, just north of County Road 650 South in Edinburgh, on a report of a single-car crash.

Deputies arrived and found a 2002 Toyota Highlander in a ditch propped on its side with the driver trapped inside.

Edinburgh firefighters extracted the driver, identified as a 32-year-old man from Franklin, from the car. He was reported as "incapacitated" as a result of his injuries. The crash report stated he also suffered minor bleeding and was transported to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

A witness to the crash told police they saw the driver suddenly veer left into the oncoming lane and then leave the road. The car then slammed into a telephone pole, then a tree.

Police did not share an update on the driver's condition.
