INDIANAPOLIS — A 23-year-old driver was transported to Eskenazi Hospital after suffering a medical episode that caused her to crash into condos on the west side Friday around 11 a.m.
The woman reportedly travelled about 75 feet, hitting two bushes, two air conditioning units and a gas meter before hitting the Meadowlark Condos at 34th and Lupine Terrace in Indianapolis, according to the Indianapolis Fire Department.
The impact caused significant damage to the structure and to the concrete floor.
IFD Firefighters and the IFD Collapse Rescue Team arrived on scene and assessed that the building would need to be shored in two places to ensure structural safety until owners could get a contractor out for repair.
Citizens Energy shut off gas utilities at the Meadowlark Condos, according to IFD.
"Fortunately, no one occupies the condominium that was hit. Other occupants of the building were not injured, they evacuated ok," IFD said in a statement.
IFD says the woman was in good condition during transportation to the hospital.
