'Drive and Dish' aims to combat food insecurity in Marion County

As food deserts continue to be a problem, a new program in partnership with the Indiana Pacers aims to fix the issue in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS — Food deserts have been a big problem in areas across the city of Indianapolis.

Soon, there will be another way for people in need to get healthy foods in Marion County.

About 25% of people in Marion County deal with food insecurity, which means they do not have enough food or access to healthy food.

A new program called "Drive and Dish" will provide eligible families with meal kits for a year.

The program is aimed at helping low-income families who live in certain ZIP codes that have been identified as food deserts.

The Indiana Pacers organization announced the launch of the program, a joint effort aimed at addressing food insecurity and health disparities in three Marion County communities.
