INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Each day the smell seems to get worse for people living in the condos at Castleton Farms.
Residents say going outside is unbearable because of the strong the smell left by hundreds of dead fish.
“Oh, it takes your breath away. At its worst, it’s hard to breathe,” said Dan Hughey.
The fish were left at the bottom of a pond that was drained recently in the complex. Residents say the city was attempting to fix an ongoing drainage issue.
But none of the wildlife was taken out first and then died once the water was drained from the pond.
“I don’t want to deal with this,” said Carol Smith. “It’s the city’s responsibility and someone needs to be accountable or responsible and it’s the city’s work and that where I would go look, why aren’t they out here taking care of the situation.”
