INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works has announced segments of Broad Ripple Avenue, Georgia Street and Massachusetts Avenue will remain closed through Labor Day.
The streets were first closed in May to allow restaurants to extend outdoor seating and bring in more revenue.
Each segment was scheduled to reopen Monday, July 20 but will be closed through Monday, Sept. 7.
"As we continue to evaluate public health data and monitor pedestrian counts, we believe the volume of visitors to Broad Ripple Avenue, Georgia Street, and Mass Ave continue to warrant additional space to safely distance within these street segments," Indy DPW Director Dan Parker said in a press release.
All three closures will continue in their current conditions, but Indy DPW is currently reviewing how to make additional parking available to the Mass Ave area.
