ALBANY, Indiana — Deputies are investigating after a fatal crash in Delaware County Tuesday morning.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office said dispatch received a report of a serious bodily injury crash near the Muncie Dragway, in the 7000 block of East State Road 67 in Albany, Indiana, just before 6 a.m. Aug. 27.

Deputies said they arrived and found a Hyundai Elantra in the middle of the road with "heavy front end damage."

A mustang was off the south side of the road, which had rolled over. The male driver in the Mustang was ejected and died at the scene, officers said.

On Wednesday, the Delaware County coroner identified that driver as 62-year-old Richard S Meadows, of Muncie.

Deputies said the male driver of the Elantra was taken by helicopter to an Indy hospital. His condition is not known at this time.

The Delaware County Sheriff Crash Investigation Team is investigating the scene.

An alert from INDOT around 7:15 a.m., citing the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, said the crash closed both directions of State Road 28 west of Black Cemetery Road, around eight miles northeast of Muncie.
