INDIANAPOLIS — A first of its kind photo shoot will happen on Monument Circle this Father's Day weekend.
Shawn Kimbrough came up with the idea to help improve the image of Black males in Indianapolis. He believes some images that the masses are exposed to send the wrong message and creates stereotypes of African American males.
“Social media is just flooded with negative images of Black men and my goal was just to put out positive images of Black men," Kimbrough said.
African American males of all ages across central Indiana are invited to participate in the historic photo shoot, which will take place at noon on Saturday on Monument Circle. Everyone is encouraged to dress to impress and organizers will even provide neckties for those who need them.
Kimbrough reminds participants to remember to wear face masks when they head downtown for the photo shoot, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
