INDIANAPOLIS — The body of a Columbus man who went missing in a Bartholomew County lake was recovered early this morning, an Indiana DNR spokesperson confirmed to 13News.
Around 5 a.m., DNR and the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office were notified that crews had recovered a man's body. The man was identified as 70-year-old Richard Chaille, of Columbus, who was reported missing on Grandview Lake around 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31.
Witnesses told authorities the man was in the water and had his feet on the back of a boat when he went underwater and did not resurface.
An autopsy will be performed at an undetermined time.
Search crews from the DNR, Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office and Columbus Fire Department responded to the scene.
