SHOALS, Ind. — An Indiana Conservation Officer (ICO) is being called a hero after rescuing a woman from a burning home Monday afternoon.

According to a news release, ICO Kendrick Fuhrman was on patrol when he responded to a call of a house fire in the 800 block of High Street in Shoals just after noon Aug. 26.

When he arrived on scene, he was told by bystanders that people were still inside the home.

The Indiana DNR said Fuhrman went inside the house and saw a man and a woman. The woman needed help getting out of the home, so Fuhrman and the man helped her.

Fuhrman stuck around after to help the Shoals Volunteer Fire Department get the flames under control.
