We want to help you protect your personal information and keep it out of the hands of thieves.
To do that, we're teaming up with Crime Stoppers this spring for another Community Shred-It Day.
You can have your personal documents shredded at locations around central Indiana, including here at Channel 13. We'll also collect electronics like laptops, hard drives and old cell phones, and have those recycled.
Community Shred-it Day is April 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:
- WTHR studios, 1000 N Meridian Street
- Creekside Middle School, 3525 W. 126th Street
- Greenwood Park Mall, 1251 US Highway 31 North
- Speedway Police Department, 1410 N. Lynhurst Drive
- Lawrence Police Department, 9001 E. 59th Street
A $5 donation per shredding box is requested to help fund Crime Stoppers' rewards for information leading to arrests and convictions. Small electronics and computers are free, but a $5 fee will be charged for glass televisions and computer monitors.
All locations are also authorized DEA Pharmaceutical Drug Take Back locations. The Indiana Attorney General's Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Task Force will hand out free pharmaceutical drug disposal bags and information on the BitterPill project.
