INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - My fellow nerds… assemble!!

Indiana Comic Con is family friendly convention once again invading the Convention Center downtown. I got a quick preview of the exhibit halls these comic book aficionados will be occupying this weekend, and they’re big enough to accommodate thousands of Incredible Hulks.

In my opinion, the best reason to bring the kids out (besides the fact that all little ones 12 and under get in free) is the Cosplay. For those of you who went to prom, Cosplay refers to all the awesome costumes that have been meticulously designed by these mega-fans. It is both a noun and a verb. Cosplay can mean the actual costume, as well as the action of wearing it.

My only question: where do all these superhero wannabes keep their wallets?

And trust me, you’re going to need a place to store your cash because celebrity photos ops and autographs are not free, and they are almost all “cash only.”

The list of celebrities at Indiana Comic Con doesn’t begin to approach the center of the cosplay universe which is San Diego Comic Con. But hey, we’re getting better.

This year, we’ve got Val Kilmer (Batman in “Batman Forever” and Iceman in “Top Gun”), Nichelle Nichols (the orginal Lt. Uhura of “Star Trek”), Cary Elwes (Westley in "The Princess Bride" and FBI AD Brad Fuller on "The X-Files"), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven in “Stranger Things"), Charlie Cox (“Daredevil” in the Netflix TV adaptation), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead in "Deadpool")… and my personal favorite: Khary Payton, who plays King Ezekiel on TV’s #1 rated show “The Walking Dead.”

There are plenty of other activities besides staring at grown-up people in costumes and grown-up actors out of them. There’s a Game Cave, an Indy Lightsaber Academy, a League of Little Legends Kids Zone, an Instagram Scavenger Hunt, an Improv Class and (most intriguing) Nerdy Speed Dating.

Indiana Comic Con runs today through Sunday at the Indiana Convention Center. All three days will cost adults $60. Admission for today and Sunday is $30 each day, while a Saturday ticket will run you 40 bucks. And don’t forget, kids 12 and under get in free.
