Colts' 'Horseshoe Helpings' event provides hundreds of meals to Indianapolis families

Colts players and cheerleaders were among the more than 100 people who volunteered to help Tuesday.

INDIANAPOLIS — Some Hoosier families now have the food they need for a Thanksgiving meal, thanks to the Indianapolis Colts.

The team partnered with US Foods Tuesday for the 11th Horseshoe Helpings event

More than a hundred volunteers, including some of the players and Colts cheerleaders, handed out more than 2,000 meals to Indianapolis families in need Tuesday morning.

We spoke with a few people in line, including the president of the Norwood Neighborhood Association. Brenda McAtee told us she came out to thank the Colts for helping people in her community.

"This year is much more needed than past years because everything is sky high. I mean everything, you go to get you can not walk out of the grocery store under 50 or 60 dollars. And I don't care, it's just one bag. So I know whoever is getting this is appreciating it a lot. I know they are," McAtee said.

The Colts also sent dozens of meals to ten local churches. Those churches planned to hand them out to the elderly and people in need who weren't able to attend Tuesday's drive-thru event.
