The Department of Public Works is providing families with free sandbags Tuesday at the department's West Street Garage.
Flood waters are threatening many people's properties after recent heavy rain and storms and the city wants to help.
Flooding causes problems for central Indiana drivers
People can pick up free sandbags from 7 a.m. To 3 p.m. Tuesday at the garage located on South West Street, just south of Morris Street on Indianapolis' south side.
They are free, but there's a 15 sandbag limit per person.
