INDIANAPOLIS — Even though Friday's weather canceled some events for Circle City Classic, hundreds still came out for Saturday's parade in downtown Indianapolis.
"It brightened up, it feels great, we're out here enjoying this a lot," one man said.
That joy shared by many as they lined Pennsylvania Street to watch local and national performers.
"The music just goes inside of me, it makes me feel good and great," Kim Taylor said.
For 40 years, the Circle City Classic has showcased historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Many have made this weekend a tradition, but for others like Taylor, this parade is extra special.
"I haven't been in 38 years since my father passed, so this is a blessing for me to be here," she said.
Even though the weather kept the crowd smaller, many told us the celebration grows every year.
"This is how we really live, forget the stereotypes," one woman said. "This is how we really get down, this is how we celebrate and love on each other and this is how we communion."
Saturday's events wrapped up with the Circle City Classic football game with Norfolk State against North Carolina Central.
