INDIANAPOLIS — Big changes are coming to Indiana Black Expo's Summer Celebration this year.
The 11 days of events are moving from July and will now be held from June 20 to June 30.
There are changes to the Friday night concert, too. It's now a ticketed event instead of a free one.
Also, it's moving from the American Legion Mall downtown to Carroll Stadium on the IU Indianapolis campus.
"We have like two or three entry points where people can come in at where we'll have like ticket takers, security and that kind of thing. So security is part of the main reason why we moved to this location," concert promoter Amp Harris said.
Johnny Gill is the headliner for the 2024 Music Heritage Festival on June 28. Other performers include Lalah Hathway, Morris Day, Atlantic Starr and Karyn White.
Tickets start at $10 and are now on sale.
"I want people to know that they they're going to have even a better experience than what they had before," IBE CEO Alice Watson said. "Again, beautiful venue lighting it safe. So that's what I hope that they'll they'll garner from this experience."
