CARMEL, Ind. (WTHR) - Watch for changes starting Friday at the intersection of 96th Street and Keystone Parkway.
Carmel city engineers are removing the stoplight and blocking through traffic on 96th Street across Keystone.
Through traffic northbound and southbound on Keystone will be shifted to the new ramps on the outside of the existing pavement.
Crews added new barricades and traffic cones early Friday morning in hopes of having the traffic shift complete in time for Monday morning's rush hour.
Because Keystone Parkway traffic will proceed through the project without stopping, drivers will have quick access to westbound 96th Street and Interstate 465. Traffic turning south on Keystone Parkway from eastbound 96th Street will have a dedicated turn lane.
Southbound Keystone traffic will not be able to turn left across 96th Street. Detours will have to use either 106th Street to Lake Shore Drive or 86th Street to River Road.
Work on the bridge over 96th Street is expected to remain on pace to be substantially completed by the end of 2019.
