Carmel - A Carmel police officer has been fired a week after he was sentenced for a felony charge of official misconduct.
Michael Flynn was charged with auto theft in December 2007 after police say he stole a car from a dealership where he worked off-duty as a security guard. The eight-year veteran officer pleaded guilty to the misconduct charge.
The Carmel City Council accepted the police chief's recommendation to terminate Flynn on Thursday night.
