CARMEL, Ind. — Carmel firefighters responded to a fire at a dealership on Sunday.
The fire involved an electric vehicle that was on a lift. The fire department says when they got to the dealership, the sprinklers were going off in one of the mechanic bays.
Firefighters and crews from the dealership had to actually get the car off the lift and out of the bay.
With electric vehicles becoming more common, the Carmel Fire Department says they can definitely pose some difficulties when responding to these calls.
"Even on electric vehicles, when they have a car wreck, we have to be cognizant of all where all the wires and electricity runs, and power of those cars when we're extricating them, cutting them, and with car fires, with those, we know that those batteries can heat up to extreme temperatures," said Tim Griffin with the Carmel Fire Department.
13News reached out to that dealership and have not heard back.
