Carmel firefighters put out large apartment fire off Guilford Road

Crews were called to units on Timber Creek Drive shortly after 5 a.m. and found heavy fire through the roof of multiple units.

CARMEL, Ind — Carmel firefighters battled a large apartment fire at the Timber Creek Condominiums off Guilford Road Monday morning.

Crews were called to units on Timber Creek Drive shortly after 5 a.m. and found heavy fire through the roof of multiple units on the second and third floors.

A second alarm was called to get more firefighters to the scene.

Wind caused the fire to spread, and crews cut a trench to stop the fire from advancing through the complex.

A Carmel Fire Department spokesperson told 13News at the scene that all residents have been accounted for. All displaced tenants were sent to the clubhouse at the complex to coordinate assistance through Hamilton County Emergency Management.

The total number of units affected is unknown until the fire is fully contained. Investigators have not determined a cause.

By 7:15 a.m., the fire was marked under control.

Carmel Clay Schools were impacted as the complex and Carmel Junior High share entrances off Guilford Road. Some bus routes were also affected by apparatus blocking roads.
