INDIANAPOLIS — Officials at Camp Atterbury said a training event scheduled for Thursday afternoon has been canceled due to inclement weather.
In a statement, an Indiana National Guard spokesperson said an aerial gunnery training exercise, which involves aircrafts doing 45-degree banks around Atterbury, had been canceled.
"Camp Atterbury remains closed to the public today," the spokesperson said.
No information on when the training may be rescheduled has been released.
While the facility is located about four miles west of Edinburgh, officials said the operation would be visible from several nearby counties.
According to their website, Camp Atterbury "provides full logistical and training support for up to two brigade-sized elements simultaneously on more than 34,000 acres. The federally owned facility, licensed to and operated by the Indiana National Guard, offers a variety of training ranges, live-fire venues, managed airspace with air-to-ground firing capabilities and an LVC simulation and exercise center."
