On Tuesday, there was a worldwide call for church leaders, including those in Indianapolis, to pray for peace.
"The Anglican archbishop in Jerusalem has called us to prayer. The pope called us to prayer," said Rev. Gray Lesesne, dean at Christ Church Cathedral. "We are taking his call to prayer seriously by coming together, by crying out for justice, by crying out for peace, by crying out for hope, for reconciliation. There's power in prayer and we believe it that."
Other churches participating included Roberts Park United Methodist Church and Central Christian Church.
Members of their congregation also came to pray.
"It breaks my heart to see the violence that's taking place and I just want peace. We need peace in our world," said Michael Landon.
They prayed for many things, including those who are living through the war and those who have died in the war.
"The little ones have no idea why this is happening. It had nothing to do with them," said Linda Kraatz.
Pastors encouraged the community to come together to help.
"We are not the ones who can work out that situation. I think what we can do, people of good conscience around the world of all faiths can support the efforts of Palestinians and Jews who are working for peace," said Rev. Linda McCrae, senior pastor at Central Christian Church.
A call for peace, to bring an end to a war that has cost so many lives.
