INDIANAPOLIS — A popular downtown Indianapolis restaurant is set to open another location in The Stutz building Thursday.

Cafe Patachou currently has six locations across central Indiana and will open its seventh at 1060 N. Capitol St. on Nov. 16 at 7 a.m.

The new location will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The café will feature a private dining and meeting space while seating roughly 75 people in the main dining room.

Cafe Patachou founder Martha Hoover has visited The Stutz numerous times for different events like the BUTTER Art Fair, where she purchased a portrait by a local Black artist to hang in the café.

“We made sure to put a lot of attention to historic notes, including materials, patterns and colors that are consistent with the time the building was constructed,” Hoover said.

Guests can expect some of the same experiences from other locations that have been open for almost 35 years.

“I’m a big people-watcher. I like hotel lobbies that invite you in and make you feel really welcome, where you want to sink in and have a glass of wine and listen to the music,” Hoover said. “We hope that people will want to sink into the cozy custom furniture and think of the restaurant as an extension of their homes.”
