INDIANAPOLIS — Creative advocacy firm GANGGANG announced an early return of North America’s equitable fine arts fair, bringing BUTTER at Indy’s Home Court to the Indianapolis Artsgarden during the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend.
"BUTTER seeks to push boundaries by elevating Black artists in the national conversation, promoting equity in the arts and fueling the creative economy," the organization said in a statement.
The artwork featured in the fine art fair will welcome sports and art enthusiasts to the Artsgarden at 110 W. Washington St.
Director Deonna Crag said the artwork aims to bring a unique focus on the intersection of sports and culture, from sculpture and photography to oil on canvas.
“BUTTER is about creating a context worthy of the art and artists it exhibits,” said Deonna Craig, BUTTER Fine Art Fair Director.
BUTTER at Indy’s Home Court is free and open to the public with RSVP on Eventbrite.
GANGGANG, Indy Arts Council, and Indiana Humanities—co-chairs of the Arts and Culture Committee—will oversee the pop-up exhibitions, which include the Creative Summit, BUTTER, and several other thought-provoking art/light/place-based activations in the Cultural Corridor, the organization said.
GANGGANG is a cultural development firm based in Indianapolis working to center culture, equity, and beauty in cities. The organization said it believes in the power of the arts to change hearts and minds, especially when it comes to racism in America today.
In August, BUTTER welcomed 11,000 attendees, selling 75 pieces of art for a combined total of $270,392 during the four-day fair. BUTTER is responsible for more than $710,397 in artwork sales in just three years, maximizing the earnings of 129 artists.
