INDIANAPOLIS — Butler Blue IV is heading back home Saturday after a successful surgery.
Blue's handlers shared a photo online following his surgery Friday. The popular mascot had a torn CCL, which is the dog version of an ACL.
A case of bronchitis delayed the surgery initially.
The doctor has ordered recovery time, so some time off is planned.
Butler Blue IV called on the mascot emeritus Butler Blue III, to lend a paw next week. That's when Blue III and Blue IV's mom, Violet, will deliver admission decisions to some central Indiana high schoolers.
Butler's mascot program, which features a live English bulldog, came to life in 2000 when the school agreed to get an official mascot. Blue IV has been serving since January 2020.
