AUSTIN, Texas (WTHR) - Lakes across the country and here in Indiana are dealing with "toxic blue-green algae."
For one recreational business in Austin, Texas, it's costing them some business, since people are being told not to take their dogs out on the water with them.
That's on top of the season winding down and students going back to school.
Indiana's Department of Environmental Management has issued algae advisories for several lakes.
Remember you can still swim and boat there but don't swallow the water. And don't let your dogs swim or drink the water if you see algae.
They also issued a "recreation caution" for Mississinewa Lake in Miami County.
