BROWNSBURG, Ind. (WTHR) - Vandals left graffiti on a Brownsburg park overnight Friday into Saturday.

The vandals hit the park facilities, including the splash pad, at Williams Park near US-136 & SR-267 around 2 a.m. Saturday, according to Travis Tranbarger, director of Parks & Recreation. The "five young men" proceeded to spraypaint obscene graphics on the splash pad, as well as a nearby restroom building, trail and sign.

Tranberget told WTHR.com the graffiti was found by one of his grounds teams when they showed up Saturday morning to finish getting the park ready to open to the public for Memorial Day. Luckily, he said most of the damage was only cosmetic and not structural so they were able to get everything cleaned up "most of the way."

The splash pad even opened to the public on time.

They do have surveillance footage that shows the suspects. Unfortunately, the footage is from behind or to the side of the suspects, so it's a little difficult to make them out.

"Although we are disappointed at the lack of respect for public property and this popular amenity, we are hopeful that the Community will help us identify the individuals responsible for this act of vandalism," Jonathan Blake, assistant director for park operations and development, said in an emailed statement.
