BOONE COUNTY, Ind. — The Boone County Sheriff's Office is recognizing the work of a K-9 after it located a missing child Tuesday afternoon.
Around 4:30 p.m. March 12, K-9 Justice and his handler Sgt. Travis Sutphin, along with K-9 Chase and handler Sgt. Ryan Musgrave, were called in to help locate a child who had been missing in the Zionsville area for more than two hours.
Justice and Sgt. Sutphin located a sweatshirt that belonged to the child and used it to help in the search. Justice led officers "over a fence, through the woods, several small creeks, and farm fields" before finding the child sitting near a pond nearly three quarters of a mile away, the sheriff's office said.
The child was returned safely to his family, police said.
"Another great find by K-9 Justice and Sgt. Sutphin!!," the sheriff's office posted on social media.
