INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The Indiana Supreme Court Thursday upheld Bob Leonard's convictions and sentence of life without parole.
Judges on the Indiana Supreme Court heard Leonard's appeal back in January but just handed down their decision. Leonard was convicted last February of murder, arson and conspiracy to commit arson and then sentenced to two terms of life without parole followed by 70 years for his role in the Richmond Hill explosion.
Leonard appealed his case on four issues. He claimed the state did not prove that he knowingly or intentionally hurt people, that the court should have given jurors the option of reckless homicide, and that Indiana's sentencing rules for life without parole are unconstitutional. The state's highest court disagreed with all four of his claims, and upheld all of his convictions and his full sentence.
