INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A new billboard is warning Brickyard 400 fans that eating hot dogs can be dangerous to their health.
The sign near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway features an image of hot dogs poking out of a cigarette pack adorned with a skull and crossbones. A message warns viewers that "hot dogs can wreck your health."
The billboard is sponsored by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. The group says research shows consuming about one hot dog each day can increase the risk of colorectal cancer by 21 percent.
The group says more than 1 million hot dogs were sold by concession stands at the speedway last year.
This year's Brickyard 400 will be run Sunday.
