'Better Together' exhibit at Newfields features 31 artists, highlights inclusivity and accessibility

Newfields teamed up with the nonprofit ArtMix for Thursday's preview event.

INDIANAPOLIS — A new exhibit is opening Friday at Newfields, showcasing pieces by artists with disabilities.

"Better Together" features 31 artists and highlights inclusivity and accessibility.

Newfields teamed up with the nonprofit ArtMix for the event.

While all artists were given the same wooden panel on which to hang their artwork, each piece offers a different medium.

A private viewing Thursday gave the community a first look at a collaboration two years in the making.

"I'm a person with a disability and just being able to celebrate and support my artists and see their work here is incredible," said Britt Sutton, ArtMix president and CEO.

"This is a piece inspired by my love for space and science," said Felicity Park-Smith, an ArtMix independent artist. "I've always loved science and space especially for like all my life."

The exhibit is open to the public Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It runs until Nov. 24. It's a free exhibit and you don't need any tickets to get in.
