BEECH GROVE, Ind. — On Friday, the City of Beech Grove officially opened its new police training facility and shooting range.
The 8,000-square-foot facility is next to the city's new police station, which opened in 2023.
There are interactive training and simulation opportunities that the department says better prepare modern law enforcement agencies for real-world scenarios.
The new range will facilitate on-site firearms instruction.
"The place that we have here is state-of-the-art. It's fantastic, and it's not only for Beech Grove — it's for our agencies around us that can utilize it. They can come here and train," Deputy Chief Robert Mercuri said.
Constructed at a cost of $4.5 million, the facility completes Beech's Grove recent investment in centralizing police operations, court functions and civilian duties into one location.
