Eyewitness News has an update on a Hoosier who attracted crowds as he walked coast to coast.
Rick Hammersley passed away Monday after his colon cancer reappeared.
Eyewitness News caught up with the 62-year-old as he walked from coast to coast last year raising money for cancer awareness and lifting spirits along the way.
The Beech Grove native and Franklin Central High School graduate stood out in orange steady with his stick, while his wife of 40 years, Valda, stayed close by in the RV they lived in during their 215-day journey which he faithfully documented with a blog, "Rick Walks America."
Funeral services are Saturday, May 2nd at 11:00 am at the Greenwood United Methodist Church 525 North Madison Avenue in Greenwood, Indiana.
