New cell phone video of a deadly police shooting in Baton Rouge, La. has gone viral.

It allegedly shows two Louisiana police officers confronting a black man selling CDs outside of a convenience store.

Police were dispatched after a anonymous 911 call claiming someone had a gun.

When they arrived, two officers confronted 37-year-old Alton Sterling, and things escalated.

This cell phone video was reportedly shot by a witness from inside a car. It shows what happened next.

It clearly shows the two police officers tackling and wrestling Sterling to the ground.

Seconds later, someone can be heard saying, "He's got a gun," followed by audible gunshots.

What happens next is not as clear. The camera turns away from the incident. NBC News does not know what happened before or after what is shown in the recording.

Baton Rouge police released a statement saying that Sterling had been killed.

But so far, authorities have not provided details about what happened or what caused the police to pull their firearms.

Both officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

The fatal shooting is sparking protests outside the store.

Hundreds of residents are chanting, "Black Lives Matter!" and have set up a make-shift memorial.

Among them is Sterling's sister, Mignon Chambers.

"I think something really needs to be done and something needs to be done quick about this," she said. "There is no reason for you to handle him the way that he did. It wasn't right and something needs to be done."

People are expressing outrage, disgust and anger on social media.

Some tweeting things like I "feel sick to my stomach after seeing the Alton Sterling video."

Another tweeted: "Alton Sterling could've been me, or you or my uncle or my father."

The owner of the convenience store where Sterling was killed says he's sure the incident was caught on his store's surveillance cameras, though he hasn't seen it. Police reportedly took the video as evidence.

The coroner in East Baton Rouge Parish confirms the autopsy done on Sterling shows he died of multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and back.
