Balloon release planned for postal worker who was shot and killed

Monday morning postal workers plan to release balloons in honor of their co-worker who was killed on her route.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Monday morning postal workers plan to release balloons in honor of their co-worker who was killed on her route.

Angela Summers was shot last Monday on the east side while delivering mail.

The balloon release is set to happen at 8:15 a.m. outside the Linwood Post Office off 10th Street.

Customers have also been putting black ribbons on their mailboxes in remembrance of Summers.

The man accused of killing Summers is facing federal charges for her death.

Tony Cushingberry-Mays, 21, says he confronted Summers because mail wasn't being delivered to his house over concerns of a vicious dog.

He told investigators he didn't mean to kill her. He said he just wanted to scare her.
