Award-winning comedian Paul Mecurio performing in Indianapolis

Mecurio stopped by 13News Saturday morning to talk about the show.

INDIANAPOLIS — Comedian Paul Mecurio will be performing his stand up show "Permission to Speak" in Indianapolis.

Mecurio is an Emmy award-winning comedian known for his work on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

The show, directed by Frank Oz, involves the audience but isn't a traditional crowd work show.

"Permission to Speak" allows the audience and Paul to tell their own stories that are fun, crazy, bizarre, and at times relatable.

"We are nameless and faceless to each other and at times divisive and disconnected, but if we get together and share stories we realize we have more in common than we think and maybe don't have to be so divisive," Mecurio said.

The show is on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 8 p.m. at The Schrott Center for the Arts on Butler University's campus.

Tickets are available here.
