AVON, Ind. (WTHR) — Avon Community Schools was the first district in the state to close after a student was confirmed to have COVID-19 and another student showed symptoms.

Now the district is laying out what could be the plan for the rest of the school year and it appears to use most, if not all, of the 20 waiver days the governor promised schools.

The district will finish out this week with e-Learning. Assignments will be modified to alleviate them taking up a great deal of time for students and their parents.

Spring break begins March 23 and extends until April 6.

At that point the district will have no school on April 6 and 7.

On Wednesday, April 8, the district will move to scaled back e-Learning.

There will then be no school on April 9 and a reduced e-Learning day on Friday, April 10.

The district then made it clear that, if students can not return to school April 13, a pattern of Tuesday and Thursday off with e-Learning days on Monday, Wednesday and Friday will continue until the end of the school year.

Avon Community Schools is also working to convince the Indiana Department of Education that all districts need to be able to provide continued food service for students. At this point, the district has not been cleared to continue food service beginning the week of April 6.
