TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — Authorities are investigating after human remains were found in West Lafayette Tuesday.

The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office said they were notified by the Indiana State Police on Oct. 15 of a bone found by someone who was fishing near Wabash Bottoms Park, located at 950 West and 75 South.

The coroner's office said they consulted with a forensic anthropologist, who confirmed the bone to be human remains. The coroner's office is working with the ISP Laboratory to "identify the remains through DNA."

This is an active investigation with the Tippecanoe Coroner's Office and Indiana State Police.
