INDIANAPOLIS — Separate investigations are underway after the Indianapolis Fire Department responded to two fires Saturday evening that destroyed at least 20 vehicles.
Just before 6:45 p.m., first responders say a fire was intentionally set in the 6700 block of South Tibbs Avenue causing damage to multiple out-of-service semi trailers, a cement mixer and a semi cab.
The fire was brought under control with no injuries, but it caused some of the tanks to leak diesel fuel into a nearby creek. Hazmat crews are now working with Marion County Health and DPW to ensure the area is cleaned and safe for the surrounding environment.

Shortly after working the first fire, IFD crews responded to the 2600 block of West Vermont Street on Indy's west side around 7:15 p.m. on a report of another group of vehicles on fire.
First responders arrived to heavy black smoke from 15 cars, three semi trucks and a small commercial bus on fire. According to IFD, the blaze was put out in under 45 minutes with no injuries.
Both fires are currently under investigation.
