VEX Robotics Competition comes to Arsenal Tech High School

The competition hosted 34 teams from across the state.

INDIANAPOLIS — Students from across the state of Indiana were in Indianapolis on Saturday competing in a robotics tournament.

Arsenal Tech High School hosted 34 teams from about a dozen schools on Nov. 18 for a VEX Robotics Competition.

The competition requires teams of students to build a robot based on a specific challenge. The robot must then complete the challenge before being judged to determine a winner.

Teachers say the event is more than a competition, but also a chance for kids to build valuable life skills.

"A lot of the students that come to me initially are shy, not very outgoing," said Isaac Adams, the engineering and robotics teacher at Arsenal Tech. "But they have to be able to work together to succeed in this, so it's a great opportunity to get them into that experience and help them blossom."

The top three finishers will compete at the state championships in March before the World Competition in May.
