The Indiana State Court of Appeals Monday heard the case of a young State Fair stage collapse victim.

She's challenging the state's cap on damage payments.

Jordyn Polet was 10 years old in August 2011, when the stage rigging collapsed before a Sugarland concert. Her mom and sister were severely injured, and a family friend with them died.

Jordyn was not part of the State's original settlement, and when she sued to recover damages, the judge ruled that she couldn't recover since the State's limit had already been met.

The appeals judges did not issue their ruling Monday, but if they side with Polet, the case could also mean victims of future disasters may be able to recover more money.
