INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Last year, Pet Wellness Clinics was one of the first vet clinics to bring telemedicine services to the greater Indianapolis area.
Virtual visits to the vet seemed like a futuristic extravagance when WTHR first visited the Pet Wellness Clinic last September to check out their new way to examine pets remotely using a smartphone or tablet. Now with the coronavirus outbreak, more and more Hoosiers are turning to telemedicine for themselves and their pets.
“The future is now, this is a necessity,” said Dr. Kerry Peterson, the medical director at the Pet Wellness Clinic Binford location. “With the coronavirus, this is a great time for (pet) owners to start getting used to this app and utilizing it when they can’t come see us in person.”
The TeleTails app allows for a digital doctor's appointment with live video and text messaging through a smartphone app.
Telemedicine consultations are less than $30 and last approximately 10 minutes.
Consultation hours are between 8 a.m.-noon and between 2 p.m.- 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
